How To Use This App

1. Time Values & Color Coding Method

The basic idea is to use the warmer values to the cooler values to define the duration of the note.  For example a rainbow starts with red and ends with violet.  The system uses the following colors:  red, orange, green, blue, purple.  The following are the time values with the corresponding color code used in Color Tab with an example of what a note will look like.

The lines represent the six strings with the highest note at the top and the lowest note at the bottom.  The number represents the fret, so select the color first, then the note, and place it on the string where you want to show what note a musician will play.  Remember the musician can set the tempo (speed of play), like you would a metronome, so the time value is useful for providing how to follow a piece of music one it begins for those that will play along or try to play the same piece of music on thier own.  Here is an example of charted chords that all use a time value of 1/8 beat per vertical line (basically the fastest speed to play a note within this piece of music):

2. Using The Compose Window

• To select a note, click on it and drag to the desired location on the strings.

• To change a note, selet it and drag it off the strings.

• Numbers 0-9 are provided and can be combined to create double digit frets.

• To send an image of your work, take a screen shot, locate it in your camera images album, select it, and compose a message or email as an attachment.

3. Online Version

An online version to be used directly on the ColorTabApp.com website may be developed at a later date.
